I have a bad feeling about IVs goals. Are you only concerned about getting the GC backlogs cleared? or are you going to be asking for H1b related issues to be addressed too? eg:- H1b renewal after the 6th year is an issue any moron could easily understand and pass. That has been there for many years and should continue for a successful H1b program. Please take care of that issue too. I dont see that included in the letter you have prepared to be sent out to all the senators. Please do that urgently. This is a very techinical issue and can easily be campaingned for. Pls dont ignore it.
If the number 3 in the letter has something to do with H1b renewal, pls reword it and make it clear, however, Idont believe its related to h1b renewal atall.
Please include atleast H1b renewal, one good thing about h1 that all of you have/currently are enjoying, to be included as one of your/our major demands. Thank you, texcan. FP may not be requierd for EAD renewal or first-time EAD? Mine is first time EAD. So, eseentially no FP yet for 485 (filed August 07) and first time EAD (this August)!

As far as ideas for mode of Re-imbursement,
it is quite simple and straightforward I think.
1. Publish Aman's address,
2. Instruct all pledgers to send cheques to his address made Payable to "Aman Kapoor".
3. Publish a letter template, which states something to the effect "I am hereby sending a cheque for $xx to re-imburse Aman Kapoor for his expenses incurred while fighting for the rights of legal high-skilled immigrants. I am fully aware that this contribution is not intended to be used towards the Immigration Voice Non-Profit Fund and that it is specifically for re-imbursement of past expense incurred by Aman. I am fully aware that I am sending this amount of my own will out of gratitude towards him for fighting for my rights. I hereby also waive all my rights to request him to refund this amount or to file any litigation in this matter."
4. All pledgers have to send this signed letter along with their cheque.
Note:
- i have not thought about tax consequences and we should not discuss that here as it is a personal matter, rather you can chat with Aman and fine tune this method.
- it may be easier to set up a Administrative expense account within IV for this purpose as this may be ongoing affair, expenses incurred by core team is bound to keep going up in future.

My app was sent to NSC on 7/2 but I-140 approved from TSC. Still no receipts, no checks encashed. Called USCIS, and they asked me to call after 90 days. Any ideas ? Is anyone else in the same boat ?

CFR22 is not the law. INA is the law. I could not find it in INA, that is all we need.

I have no problem with porting, but the priority date should be starting from when they acquired required qualifications for the job.
Example, if someone with B.S and 2 years experience had applied in EB3 in 2005 and tries to port now I think it is fair to have the ported PD not in 2005, but 2008 when the person acquired B.S + 5 years experience.
This would automatically address all those folks who deserved to be in EB2 but couldnt either becuase lawyer screwed up or issues with sponsoring company.
The priority date should be always based on the particular labor filling or the filing of I140 (which ever applicable)

We the employment based immigrant community to do some thing to help his family. May be by contributions, and help his family to get his benefits from the company he worked, any insurance, IRA, 401K etc.....
Hiis spouse may not have the ability do these things from a foreign country. Some body from IV must contact his family now based in Sweden. This is my suggestion.

Up until July 29, 2007 (incl.) when sorting of files was going on, NSC did a load sharing of files with TSC. (and btw they did not look at where ones' I-140 is adjudicated when making the selection, it was random. I know several such cases)
This in my opinion is a very good way of making sure adjudicating resources are kept in balance at both centers.
Like somone quiet rightly pointed out it is akin to the old Labor Certification process where some states were way faster than others (less demand faster process).
In the direct filing which started July 30, 2007 the load sharing has a great possibilty of being tilted one way or the other (though maybe not as much as old LC's). They have made a geographical distribution and not one that factors # of applications traditionally received from states.
On the other hand, may be USCIS has figured that the particular geographical jurisdiction produces the right load sharing between NSC and TSC!

First I-485 is triggered by an act of the applicant (he has to apply). So USCIS is never going to know whether an earlier applicant is still out there trying to file his application or not. In fact I would blame the entire retrogression on USCIS' attempt at FIFO which is scientifically impossible. It only results in wastage of visa numbers. In 2004 USCIS wasted 47000 visa numbers, in 2006 it wasted 10000 visa numbers. What USCIS could think of doing is just approve whoever is approvable. So the visa bulletin has only 2 possible values "C" and "U". If an earlier I485 applicant is stuck in name check then he should take appropriate action (writing to senators, FL, GWB or file WoM) and get his case adjudicated.

After that it has to be escalated to higher authorities. Trust me this never happens. Violation of regulations is a serious offense.

Good luck..I filed everything on the 14th of Aug; for 485 I think the fees was 395; for EAD 180 and AP 170. all together 1490 for 2...1165 seems a little weird because first of all 1165 is not divisible by 2 :)); I guess based on old fee structure, 485 is 325 plus 70 biometric fee
